Frequently Asked Questions

What counts towards the trade-in program?
The kid's bike must have been purchased new from Bokoo Bikes within the last Three (3) years. The term "kid's bikes" includes bikes 24" wheel size and smaller, balance bikes, trikes, child trailers, and trailer-cycles. For bikes not purchased from Bokoo Bikes we suggest that you bring the bike in for a No-Charge Safety Inspection, then sell the bike locally at a garage sale, talking to neighbors, or Craigslist.org. Avoid shipping the bike (for example, selling through eBay.com) as this incurs many headaches that can be avoided by selling locally.

How long can I keep my bike before I must trade it in?
The kid's bike must be traded in within Three (3) years of the original purchase date, dictated by the receipt. On average children will need a different size bike every Two years, extending the program to Three years allows your kids to grow at their own pace!

My trade-in period has expired, what should I do with the bike?
For bikes that can no longer be traded in we suggest that you bring the bike in for a No-Charge Safety Inspection, then sell the bike locally at a garage sale, talking to neighbors, or Craigslist.org. Avoid shipping the bike (for example, selling through eBay.com) as this incurs many headaches that can be avoided by selling locally.

Is the 50% back based on the condition of the bike?
Whenever we sell a bike, big or little, we expect it to be used! We will not deduct from your 50% for signs of regular use (paint scratches, broken reflectors, etc.); but may have to deduct for missing training wheels, tires that have been skidded through, or if the family dog has eaten the seat. We have a good selection of "gently used" parts that we can replace on the bike for cheap so your trade-in does not lose as much value.
